What will mom do if her baby cries? If she doesn’t breastfeed, the last thing that mom will do is carrying her baby. But, what should mom do if those two ways can’t stop her crying?
Understanding the meaning of her crying is the key.
Every mom needs to know that crying is the first communication tool that is comprehended by baby. Through crying, baby tries to utter her wants and needs to her mother.
In book entitled Your Child’s Body Language, Dr. Richard Woolfson explains that baby’s crying has different meanings. Every crying communicates different message for mom and dad.
These are some types of baby’s crying and the ways to handle it.
- Feels hungry and wants to drink milk.
Baby will cry if she feels hungry. The thirsty crying will be heard several times. First, she cries and she stops for a while to take a breath after that she cries again. She will repeat this for some time.
- Her diaper is dirty
The wet diaper because she urinates will make baby not comfortable and this will make she cries. This crying is like a declaration. Her voice is not that loud in the beginning but later she will cry loudly. The baby will stretch her body in her bed.
- Feels ill
The uncomfortable condition because she feels ill will make baby cries. Illness crying started with the high tone, almost like a shout, then baby will gasp for a breath and she will cry again. Find soon the cause of her crying. Check her stomach then shake her hands, feet, neck and her head. If she shouts louder when you shake certain part, maybe there is pain there because she falls and you don’t know that. Compress the pain area with warmth water.
- Feels bored
Baby will feel bored if she only lies down. The crying that signs baby feels bored is like shouting. Baby will not stop crying as long as she still feels bored.
- Wants to be carried
Your baby will be fussy when she feels tired though she doesn’t want to sleep. She will be fussy and it will make you upset. Her head will nod for some time and maybe you see her scratch her hands to her face or eyes. Just carry her until she falls asleep.
- Feels lonely
Baby will be happy if her parent is close with her. If she feels lonely, her crying will sound so sad. It is different with upset crying.
