Nine-month baby have been able to say their first word, this is a big step in showing their ability to use verbal language that might make them able to build communication with you precisely and significantly. Baby’s first word is a sign of the rapid development of baby’s vocabulary in the next two years of their life.
You can encourage your baby to say their first word by giving them a good example on how to talk, they can resemble it. When you see your baby trying to say something, you can encourage them by saying words that are intended by them. For example, they spill out “baa..” words when they see a ball, you can say to them “That’s right sweetheart, it is a ball.” Although your pronouncing is different with your baby did, but they will consider it as the same word.
When baby is able to say their first word, they know the variation of sounds, even sentences. Your baby can understand to a simple instruction, although they can’t fully understand of what we instruct for. You can stimulate their ability to understand to your instruction. Try to ask them to give their spoon while they in their meal time. Give your baby credit to their positive respond with a smile or an embrace, if they can’t understand your instruction, repeat it once more then lift the spoon to show your intention.
For your note, you don’t have to force your baby to spill soon out their first word. Their sound should be produced spontaneous, not be forced, and it is conducted because your baby wants to communicate something to you, not because they thought that you had let down if they don’t want to talk to you.
