Music-Benefits-for BabiesMusic is the most pleasant activity and is a perfect form of emotional expression. For children (including fetus and baby), hearing classical music will stimulate their intelligence development. He is Frances Rauscher from California University who conduct the research about Mozart Effect. His research concluded that classical music can enrich baby’s spatial ability – brain temporal, which is the ability in understanding the construction of 2 and 3 dimension objects. Also, music is able to make baby later to be more understand about math and science. Music has influent on baby’s brain development through its rhythm, melody, and harmonization. Generally, we can say that music can significantly stimulate baby’s imagination, learning ability, concentration and perspicacity.

For pregnant mother, she can start to introduce music to baby when baby was still in mother’s womb, since baby’s brain start to develop even when they are still in the womb (in the third of three semester) until 3 years old. At this period of time, baby’s brain is developed very fast. Its weight until baby 3 years old is 1200 g, while adult’s brain (man) will reach 1400 g and adult woman is only 1250 g.

On the other research, by teaching child to play simple melody of Mozart and Beethoven using Keyboard will increase their score of spatial-temporal intellectual activity to 30% compare to other same-age children. But, it will bring different result if your child plays another melody from another composer, such as Bach and Chopin. Bach’s melody is complicated, while Chopin’s is not recommended since it has desperate nuance.

Music is worked by influencing child’s under-conscious-mind, there are sad emotion, happy and also spirit in music. Therefore, music could be a tool for children to express their emotional and to increase their sensitivity. Music brings many benefits for our children and also babies, therefore by providing music for them to be heard means that you also stimulate their intelligence and imagination improvement.
