Although there is many controversies around face-downward-position in baby, but in fact face-downward-position have many benefits for your beloved baby. See these following things to know more about the benefits of face-downward-position for our baby:

  1. Giving a chance for the head’s back side to rest awhile in face-downward-position.
  2. Help to strengthen the neck muscles as a preparation for the baby crawl.
  3. Help to accelerate the baby’s ability to lift buttocks, to roll, to sit, and to stand up.
  4. Help to improve the motor development of baby.
  5. Assist the development of baby’s foot muscles.

Besides its benefits, you also need to know about the variations of face-downward-position that are safe for baby:

  1. Place your baby on the top of your stomach in the face-downward-position while you are lying down.
  2. Put your baby in the face-downward-position on a solid base and is also safe, such as the blankets on the floor.
  3. Carry your baby on your arm in the face-downward-position.
  4. Put your baby in the face-downward-position at the top of the big ball while you are holding their back and buttocks. You can also slowly move the ball forward and backward.
  5. Don’t save the soft objects around baby that is in tummy position, such as pillows, bolsters, or soft dolls. If your baby sleeps on the base that is too safe, it can make them ‘sink’ and cover the hole nose of your baby.
  6. If you think that your baby needs blanket, set it up till their chest and skid the blanket’s edge under the mattress. Or you can dress your baby with the thick clothes, so your baby doesn’t need a blanket anymore.
  7. If your baby fall asleep in the vehicle in face-downward-position don’t let them alone and not supervised. It is suggested that the safe time for your baby in their prone position is about 30 minutes. Return their body to the supine position if they had more than 30 minutes.

It is my biggest hope that this post will make you realize that the tummy position posses’ many benefits for your baby. And hopefully this post can be useful for you in raising your children.
